ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) officially rolled the second season coming October 2nd. As the opening will be present between the host Thai Cobras against KL Dragons.ABL, which is a basketball competition Club of Southeast Asia began the first time last year and the club Philippines, Philippine Patriots, appears as the champion after defeating Satria Muda Britama from Indonesia in the final.
ABL will again this year followed by six teams with the two finalists of last year plus the Singapore Slingers, Thailand Cobras, KL Dragons and Brunei Baracudas.
Originally ABL of the new season will be followed not only six teams. However, for reasons of delay in registration of the other team so it did not increase the number of participants
Plus the fact that the Regulation NBL (National Basketball League), competition in Indonesia, which does not allow one team competing in two different competitions to make Indonesia not be sending two teams to compete in the ABL
"Last year the ABL has a very good season and I hope that in this second year ABL become more attractive again. For the ABL has been inaugurated as an annual competition at the FIBA calendar," says ABL founder Tony Fernandes in a press conference at Hotel Mulia, Senayan, Monday (23/08/2010).
The launching ceremony was also attended six people along with club owner who serves Dato Choo Hock, FIBA secretary general for the Asian region.
After the next kickoff on October 2nd, six teams will face each other in a league format. The top four teams make playoffs in late February 2011 and is planned to be held also the final.
Thailand Cobras is Thailand Tigers team substitute, deputy "White Elephant Country" which competed last season.
